Overview

Lobuche is a giant 6119 meters tall peak lying close to the Khumbu Glacier and the settlement of Lobuche. Lobuche Peak is a popular destination for many mountaineers. Lobuche peak climbing provides a deep peek into the magnificent Khumbu region. The peak itself is not very challenging and thus can be a great start or a perfect ending to your wild Himalayan adventure. Lobuche comprises two different summits i.e. Lobuche East at 6119 meters and Lobuche West at 6145 meters. Both Peaks are connected via a pointy knife-edged ridge in between. Being in close proximity to the Lobuche Village, the Base Camp of Lobuche Peak is not very far away providing a perfect access to the south ridge.

Lobuche East looks like a three sided pyramid due to its sharp jagged structure protruding over the Lobuche village. It can be easily recognized from the Everest trail. Lobuche is nestled among pristine Everest, Cho La, Nuptse and Island Peak mountains. Lobuche can be a perfect addition to your astounding Everest adventure to make things more interesting. To approach Lobuche, we follow Everest trail from Lukla after a short flight from Kathmandu Valley. Traversing through several Sherpa settlements and one of the major trading hub of the region, Namche Bazaar, we are provided with gateways to the higher alpine valleys. During the course, renowned Tengboche Monastery is encountered from where hyper-realistic views of Mount Everest and Mount Lhotse can be witnessed. Gorakshep (5125m) provides us enough time for acclimatization from where we experience some iconic landmarks like Kalapattar, Khumbu Icefall as well as Everest Base Camp. The base camp of Lobuche is at 5200 meters. So, after the complete acclimatization, we commence the ascent via South Ridge to the top of Lobuche. The summit offers truly incredible 360 degree panorama of the region including superb mountain views of Amadablam, Pumori and Mount Everest.
