Bardiya National Park is another famous national park of Nepal which was established in 1988. Covering a large area of 968 sq. km, it is the largest and most secluded national park in Terai region. The vegetation, fauna, animals and geography attracts many tourists in the region. Balance mixture of grassland, savannah and riverine forest cover about 70% of the park area. According to a survey, the park comprises 839 species of flora which includes 173 vascular plant species. Such wide range of vegetation in Bardiya provides excellent habitat for 642 faunal species. The Karnali Babai river and variety of lakes in Bardiya is home to 125 species of fish. Also, large number of Alligators, Crocodiles and several amphibian species have been recorded in this region. With 70% of area being covered in variety of vegetation, Bardiya National Park gives birth to more than 53 mammals including Rhinoceros, Wild Elephant, Swamp Deer and Gangetic Dolphins.
