Dudh Kunda trek is one of the much lesser known treks of Nepal due to its remoteness and unfrequented track but cherished by many adventurers nonetheless. Dudh kunda branches itself from the trail that leads to Everest from Jiri. For Nepalese people, Dudh Kunda means a lake made up of milk and holds a religious significance. According to Hindu religion, Dudh kunda was the home of Hindu deity Lord Shiva. So, we can expect some pilgrims around the region during festivals and rituals. Being a less frequented trek, we can find a lot of peace and seclusion in this region.

Dudh Kunda Trek is perfect for nature lovers. There are various ways of reaching Dudh kunda. We can hike to the sacred Dudh Kunda all the way from Jiri in about 8 days. We can also chose an alternate route by commencing journey from Salleri and make it a 5 day trek. The trek will have us usually stay in a guesthouse or establish our own campsite for accommodation according to situation. The trek takes us into the land of brave Sherpas and provides a peek into their lifestyle. There are usually few to no accommodation facilities while reaching the top of Dudh Kunda. We can bring our own tents and camp out in the wilderness for sheer thrill or just stay in one of the cow shed. The beginning village of Ringmu is very attractive with beautiful green forests and landscapes. Passing through Kaku, Basa, Taksindu and Beni, we will witness some awe-inspiring mountain panoramas, gushing waterfalls and placid lakes. As we hike further and further, the trail becomes more and more steeper, until we take a turn around a corner. There lies the holy lake of Dudh Kunda in all of its glory with huge mountain towering above it mirroring its own reflection on the clear water. That scene is a time-stopper. After spending some genuine time in the paradise, we walk down to Beni and depart to Kathmandu through Phaplu.
